I saw you up in one recently. I was climbing up to you in a TBM, trying to lure you into attacking me. There were other guys who kept interfering with my plans. Eventually, it worked out and I was able to engage, peppering your P-40. However, some cannon armed dweebasaurus cherry picked you (gotta be one lame boy to steal kills from a TBM, eh?).
I have to give you credit, you were certainly bold taking the WSC to a mob tho...
(WSC = Whistling Sh-t Can)
I fly the P-40E fairly often in the TA, so I'll tell what I know.
The cons:
1) It does not have much speed.
2) It has the worst stall departure of any AH2 fighter.
3) Acceleration can be measured with a sundial
4) Below 150 mph, it absolutely wallows like a drunk on an ice rink
5) Relatively small ammo load.
The pros:
1) Excellent high-speed handling, good roll and good instantaneous turn.
2) Excellent dive.
3) Good range on internal fuel.
4) Steady gun platform
5) High-speed flaps.
Combat suggestions:
1) Get some altitude and try to keep it. E-management is essential. Slow P-40s are usually dead P-40s.
2) Avoid excessive flap use. Killing E is problematic as it takes a long time to replace. Turn nose low when ever practical to maintain your E. When you get to the deck, you have to be very careful about maintaining speed.
3) It zoom climbs well enough to be effective in the vertical to a limited degree, however.
4) Don't get roped by trying to extend a zoom climb too far.
5) Don't turn-fight with a TBM, it will kick the P-40's butt.

I am providing a link to a P-40 film. I was working with Shooter and I elected to switch from a P-38G to the less capable P-40E. You will see all of the P-40's weaknesses and some of its strengths during the 9 minute film. Shooter did a good job of trying to keep the fight in the vertical. Thus, the P-40 pilot must work very hard. The film is a 3 meg download... I'll leave it up for a week or so.
P-40E vs P-38G My regards,
