The Lack of dialog
« on: March 06, 2007, 03:59:13 PM »
Am I the only one that finds it a bit unusual to find so little dialog between the AHII community and the folks at Hitechcreations?  I know they are busy but I was just reading an article in Games for Windows (old CGW) on "Gaming Love and Hate" and I was struck by the fact that a number of the developers etc. cited how their player base really helped them and was a major 'love' they had for their industry.

Just a random thought and certainly not an outright flame at anyone but I have been disappointment with the lack of updates and general discussions that one would hope to find on this forum and others.

Again, no disrespect intended but just openly asking what I have been thinking.

You're not the only one.   Seems to me there used to be more communication.   I remember a number of time Hitech would get on and fly with his own handle.     Does seem like forever since those days.

'course, sometimes the updates are worthless.   I remember back in Warbirds, as we sat patiently waiting for Warbirds III, and the canned weekly updates they used to post on their website "Planned, conducted, held Warbirds III meeting."    Anybody else remember that?

It was communication but it didn't really carry any information.

CT has become "the other woman", and we're the fat old hag that they married for money.

There used to be communication for sure. They prolly have their reasons for it, but it was always nice to see them pop in from time to time.

Maybe it will change when CT is released.

There has been tons of dialog between HTC and us.  Ala all the changes a few months ago, not to mention anytime you want, you can call and ask them questions and they will talk to you.

I think the lack of dialog is more due to the mundane topics on the boards as of late.

Hawkeye, it says you have been a member of the bbs since 2000. If that's so then you must realize the passion that HTC has for the game and their customer base.

They are easily accessible via email and through the boards. There was so much communication from them a few months ago that I wished they would shut the heck up! :D

I personally would love to hear how CT and other projects that they are working on are coming along but that isn't my call :furious

...but the fact remains that many software developers do have folks that routinely interface with their gaming community.

Guppy35, you asked "Maybe their just not talking to you?" and you ask a good question because the answer is 'No they are not talking to me!"

I have been part of AHII long before I signed on to the board and certainly there has been much commo over the years. I also know that if I have a computer problem with AHII that I can call and I know I will get the excellent help that my good friend TEShaw received. But the fact remains that I expect(ed) that a lot of the communication would come via this web site and not me having to email for a "SITREP" and such.  Obviously some players are more involved that others and email can be a great way to get info.  But I don't do skins (God bless all that do!) and I am neither a Fanboy or a Hater so all I am looking for is the 'hey guys hozitgoin?"  "We are thinking about this, what do you all think?" "Here is where we are with this or that"  etc etc etc.

Like I said in my original post I was struck by the fact that what I was reading in the gaming magazine was not what I was currently experiencing in a game I have a passion for.  I just wondered aloud if I was alone.

I seem to remember them asking a member of the community to help with trying to come up with a solution for "Base Running which was ruining the game"....

Without rehasing the old win the war vs furball thing im sure you know what I mean....... Wasnt that long ago... or is this a case of what have ytou done for me lately????

IMHO public relations people are a games worst enemy.
They tend to over sell .

I like HTC no candy coating approach.
Take the arena split.
The told us their reasons and implemented it.
A PR person would have been trying to sell it, blowing smoke up your arse the whole time.
