Hey all, the stuka thread reminded me of this very short guncam clip I have had on my hard drive forever. Don't remember where I found it but it wasn't labeled very good. Anyone know what aircraft this is? It is deffinatley a BFG!

In any case it's a tankbuster, since no fighter would shoot at tanks with less than .50's!
It could very well be a Ju-87?

EDIT: It says Hs129 at the link you've given us. It was a german ground attack aircraft. If I recall it had special 30mm guns

The HS-129 carried a lots of different guns, including a 75mm and 37mm if i remember correctly.

I think the 75mm messed up its already pretty poor performance though - aircraft was very much underpowered from what i have read.

From what I understand the 75mm put the pilot's life in jeopardy every time he flew it. But in that clip, the aircraft doesn't have a huge pack/kit slung underneath so I'd think something smaller (internal) was used.

Be careful with judgement. The plane doing the flyby can be a totally different than the one providing the guncam footage. Not saying that it is a 75mm, though.

The slug is big... but the rate of fire also seems pretty fast, gets two rounds off in quick succession.

Anyone know the ROF of the 75mm?

You can see the second round looks like it goes right through the tank and hits the ground the other side.

I dont know but it looks to me like its the third round and it looks like it ricocheted of the back of the tank.

You can see the recoil in the film, I would think the 75mm was hand loaded like the B-25? I go for the 37mm

Negative, the 75mm wasn't hand-loaded. There was only 1 crew member.

However I don't think any self-loading 75mm can fire a round in a second or two. I think 30mm. My 2c.

I agree. I think it`s the 30mm MK101 some versions were using. The 101 has a very low ROF of only about 260rpm.

ok its hard to count, but it looks like from 5 almost 6 sec mark to 9 sec mark he fires 4 rounds, 3 on the tank and 1 over the tank. from 5 to 8 sec 3 shots are fairly close together. thats 1 round per sec, 60 rpm. course dont know if he's holding the fire button down or firing each round individually

Maybe not all rounds are tracers? (*shrug*)
