Ohioans Flip-Out Over Contrails.

I was born and raised in Alaska; the weather was often ripe for contrails and I saw them all the time.  I’ve also lived in Hawaii; I don’t think they appeared there but then again I never looked up.  My next place was Colorado; I’m pretty sure we saw them there.  Now I live in Ohio; I had never really noticed, but contrails are pretty rare.  At sunset on Thursday I noticed 11 of them at once, they were gorgeous and bright due to the contrast of sunset.  I guess contrails are rarer here than I realized.  Some Ohioans, however, are afraid that 747s are really giant crop dusters and we are the crops.  How can anyone not know what a contrail is?

It seems that just about everyone Thursday was looking at the sky over Akron.
Ethereal, white streaks of fluff crisscrossed, swooped, intersected, merged and overlapped against the wild blue yonder.
``I heard it was a CIA plot,'' joked Kristie Van Auken, who fielded frantic calls all day at the Akron-Canton Airport, where it was otherwise business as usual. ``We're in a major air traffic control center, and jet exhaust is what we're seeing.''
These bands of puff, called contrails -- the con stands for condensation -- usually dissipate, but under unique atmospheric conditions, they weave an awesome tapestry across the great blue.
The trails appear when particles of ice form around the humid jet exhaust and mix with air of low vapor pressure and low temperature, according to the National Weather Service.
The mixing occurs directly behind the plane because of the turbulence generated by the engine, says the agency. If condensation occurs, a contrail becomes visible. The streaks dissipate as the ice descends, melts and evaporates.
Yeah, right, say nonbelievers. Conspiracy theories abound, most notably on the Internet and a few radio stations, where the streaks are darkly labeled ``chemtrails.'' Some allege that the supposedly lethal lines are experiments to control the weather, the human mind or global warming, or to wage war on citizens.
One theory alleges that government-sponsored mists will descend to make human flesh disappear.
Others posit the government is carrying out practice runs for a biological assault of lethal flu on citizens to reclaim the land, ultimately returning it to the pristine ripeness of a nature preserve for eventual foreign dominance.
Federal agencies have repeatedly issued denials that chemtrails exist. ``They're just contrails... nothing more,'' Thomas Schmidlin, a weather expert at Kent State University, told the Beacon Journal in 2002.
The airport's Van Auken said: ``This is one of the busiest air traffic highways in the country.''
More than 3 million planes travel through the 70,000-square-mile, east-west corridor between New York and Chicago in a year. When the contrails hang in the air, the pattern of recent flights becomes visible.
``I think they're really neat, but I'm an airport junkie,'' Van Auken said.

Google chemtrails and you will get many site convinced that it's all a US government plot. Not only that they are convinced that the whole thing is going to go mainstream any day now. When I went on their forums explaining contrails I got banned and accused of working for the US government, handing out disinformation.

Always cute. In the west/midwest, you can often find the interstates by looking for the J-Route contrails (often) directly above them.

There was a cool story a while back about "CIA Revenge" on muslims.  I highly doubt it's true but it basically revolved around the CIA having the airlines switch to a bio-fuel that had pig in it therefore having muslims all around the world breath in pig particles.

Pretty far fetching stuff but interesting read.

Just for fun I googled to see how many. 703,000! with 100 pages of sites.
Chemtrails is probably one of the most widespread, yet widely ignored of the the loony conspiracy theories out there. It's main instigator is a guy called Clifford E Carnicon who is the high priest of the cult. The fact that it's so glaringly obviously false to anyone with half a brain makes it all the more amusing. Every half wit living under an airway or near an an intersection thinks they are being sprayed. It never occurs to them that something sprayed at 30,000 feet would probably drift for hundreds of miles before coming to Earth not to mention be diluted to nothing.
 As Mav says, 'sheeple can be so stupid.'

But on the positive side the whole thing is ripe for a send up. Log on to their forums and report your 'experiences'. I went on one and pretending I was a government pilot and whistle blower.  I gave the impression I was being followed and when I stopped contributing. There was much speculation as to my fate. Great fun.

Get this one.   Ya think, perhaps, that each plane entered a region that Supported the formation of contrails?

On one occasion, I happened to see two planes approaching the perimeter of a large chemtrail pattern that was partially completed. The two aircraft were flying reasonably close and parallel to one another. One plane was slightly behind the other. No chemtrails were visible behind either craft as they approached the perimeter of the "cloud" formation being created. As soon as the first plane intersected the leading edge of the criss-cross pattern it began to spew a chemtrail. Shortly thereafter, the second plane reached the same perimeter and started discharging its chemtrail.
 
What made this observation so compelling was that individuals in the first plane knew where the edge of the chemtrail pattern began. In order to continue building the criss-cross formation, someone had to make a deliberate decision to "flip a switch" to activate the flow of chemtrail material when a certain location was reached, which is exactly what happened. Less than a minute later the scene repeated itself when the second plane intersected the same edge and another switch was flipped... both planes working in perfect tandem, both planes apparently guided by the same predetermined plan.
