I took mine apart once. Be careful, as the buttons on the stick handle will probably fall out. I can't remember exactly how many screws there were, but I do know those fancy screws at the base of the stick are just for show, they don't actually do anything. I believe there were two or three screws in the stick part itself that had to be removed, then the stick splits in two.
There is a single potentiometer at the top of the stick support rod that has two flimsy wires hanging off from it. (It's for the rudder axis.) Those wires can either get kinked or twisted around the stick. Have fun getting the pot to stay there while you put the stick back on too.
