After making objects in turrain editor...
« on: March 11, 2007, 08:47:04 AM »
Hello,
I read that help .txt on how to make field gunners but then after making objects I can't figure out how to upload it on TE. It says in the paper to press file and upload but upload is not there. I think it may be a little out of date. Does anyone have any options?

Thanks!!

Find the [your file name].shp  file that you made in the Object Editor, and copy it into the texsrc folder in each terrain you want to use it in. It will then show up on the list of objects in the Terrain Editor.

The default path is: C:\Program Files\HTC\ah2editor\newshps

Welcome to object building.

Hey!
I put the file in the texsrc folder in my map but still it don't show up. The only other file in that folder is the map that is for the clipboard. Also I tried putting skins in that folder and it don't work.

Thanks!

Is the file name more then 8 characters long? That would do it, or if you used special characters.

No. I named it "small" for small field.

In the TE (Terrain Editor), go to: File>Open
Now, find the terrain you placed the shape into, and open it (Even if you already had that terrain open.) This refreshes the terrain and will show any custom objects. You will need to do this every time you exit the TE, it's a new bug.

Thats correct.  I found that when u let the terrain editor open
your terrain by default the new shapes do not show up.  Must
open the .oba file each time, then they do appear.

Set an entpnt, assign the type as Veh Ent for now.

Rotate the entry point arrow until it points in the direction the plane would be facing at launch, which also determines the keypad key, i.e. point it NE and keypad NE will launch you to that spawn point.

Now select the properties again and reasign the object type as Ftr Entry instead of a Veh Ent.

At the end of this process, if you want an air start, tweak the 'Y' value to the alt you want.

Easycor, I've told you before, I will tell you again. Thanks to HTC's most recent update of the TE (Version 2.09 Patch 4), you can select the correct property immeditaly (In this case Fighter or Bomber Entry) and you will still be able to see which way the spawn point is facing when you rotate it. You won't see an arrow from the actual entpnt object, yet when you select rotate, a line will appear pointing in the direction that the spawn point is facing.

I determined it works just fine and is pin-point accurate.

Just click move, and drag this Entry point to the end of your runway, click
rotate, and point it in the takeoff direction. Save and test.

You are setting the entry point in the OE.

Use the TE, entry points set in the OE don't work, at least not that I can tell and I've been looking for the answer. Anyone here know different? Have a proven proceedure which works? I suspect it requires editing the .shp file which would explain how Skuzzy was able to set them in the original shapes group for the default airfields.
