Well This PC Run AHII?
« on: March 12, 2007, 10:51:59 PM »
Hello, just wondering if this computer in the other room will run aces high in a somewhat enjoyable fashion before i install everything.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
1024 MB Memory
250 GB HD
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE

its a hp pavilion a1647c runny ms windows xp.

Thanks for any of the help.  Should the only problem i have be in the graphics department?  I'm not to sure if a stock graphics card can be that good.

Thanks for any help,
-Brian

Thats a nice system for AH , except the video card . It should run AH ok on low graphic settings , but if you had a decent mid range 150- $200 Vcard it would be more enjoyable .

In the game's "Video Settings", set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256 or 128.  Set the resolution no higher than 1024x768.  Check the "Preload textures into system RAM" option.

Also, if it has not been installed, you will need the AMD dual-core optimizer patch.  You can get that from AMD.  See the technical support hints and tips post in this forum for more information about that patch.

That video chip is an onboard chip which takes system RAM away in order to do its drawing.  It is a very low end video chip, not really meant to run real-time 3D games.

Although the higher-end video cards are always recommended, you can get a very good quality video card from NVidia for no more than $80. Here is a list of some:

If you need help determining if you need AGP or PCI, we'll be glad to help you with that.:aok

Which ones do you think are decent? It shows a list of all of them . AH will normally hammer a  5200 ,6200, 7300 if played with any sort of quality . I suggested mid range to match with a pretty nice cpu , otherwise that 4200+ will be waiting on the video card .

Thanks guys for all of the help I appreciate it a lot, and I look forward to joining the community.  I'll get back in a couple of days when I have a little bit more time and try to narrow my choices.  Money shouldn't be that much of an issue, my bday is coming up:lol

Anyways thanks for all of the help,

If you go to http://tigerdirect.com you can get video cards that are high end real good.  They have the 7600PCIe for under $100 and the agp versions about $20-$40 higher.
