Did you tried the AX sport Frenchy ? it was even more deadly.

Now I know why R5 Turbos are so hard to find these days....

I owned a 1980 R5 (bought new). Loved the quirky little beastie. I replaced it with a Shelby GLHS in 1986.

Yeah grand'pa and the AX was funy.

The R5 turbo Maxi was quite wild, 350HP out of 1.5L engine. The street version of the turbo 2 killed quite some kids in France. Most kids used to come in a curve, the turbo would abruptly kick in and they would fly off.
