You can't drive the Ostwind, or fly the Ju-88 or Lanc because you didn't tell AH you could. Settings button, field settings. Highlight the Ju-88 on the aircraft list, then a field. If it's enabled the field numbers on the list will show up bright green. If they're not green, you have to do it the fun way. Highlight each field and leave the Ju-88 highlighted, then hit the Enable Plane button. Once all the airfields are showing up in green, repeat the process for the Lancaster and Ostwind. With the Ostwind, you have to do it at all the vehicle fields too, not just airfields. Tedious I know, but it's the only real way to get everything to work.

Nearly forgot [ok I did forget, just remembered]. Check to see if a file named flaps.wav is in your Aces High/sounds directory. If it's not there, you won't get any flaps sound. Another possibility is you've got the volume sliders set too high. Just the engine running will blanket out the flaps sound. I use AKWabbits sounds, along with half-a dozen others. The flaps sound is loud enough to be heard even with the engine running.

Aces High doesn't use the sliders at ALL to control volume. The default volume is the sound's, not your settings in volume control. If you want to change the volume, and keep it there, you have to open the volume control before every flight. Don't change anything, just open and close it. It's a known bug. Personally, I just increase or decrease the sound volume in a wav editor so it sounds good. Goldwave is a little ham-handed, but it works great.

Sound recorder which can be found in windows will permit you to increase the volume of .wav files.
