HD question
« on: January 02, 2001, 01:17:00 PM »
I have found that running defrag before hosting a H2H arena solves the screen freeze/lock up problem, to a large extent. My question is why?  I have no idea what defrag is. (I always figured once a guy was fragged he stayed that way). If it helps the HD, well, I have a 2 gig HD. I would think that would be enough. Any thoughts on this from the tech dudes

defrag removes the defragmentation of your data on the hard drive. Simply stated, it sorts your information in an order so the hard drive doesn't have to skip around itself to find the info it needs to do something. You should scandisk then defrag (in that order) your drive at least monthly.
