Feds are trying to take away medical marijuana from a terminally ill woman. I think that this really is a travesty. The things that are so preposterous about this are (1) The woman hasn't responded positively to normal medications (2) She will be dead soon (3) The medical marijuana is helping to alleviate the pain and (4) Her using drugs is not hurting anyone.

Lets be rational here. Though I don't use marijuana, I know that its no more potent a drug than alcohol. This is a case of supposed morality trumping medical science.

Which would be easier, changing the system from the inside, or from the outside?

There isn't a Jury in california that would convict her, I'd have blown smoke right into the Judge's face and told him to eat me.

Anyone who knows better than me, please step up, but...

Isn't Federal regulation of drugs based on the right of the Federal government to control interstate commerce?

I think is one example of how over-reaching Federal government has become. If California law allows it, and the women's source is California, then I don't see wtf DC has to do with it.

The whole "War on Drugs" thing is a joke, particularly when it comes to marijuana. Its possible legalizaion threatens too many of the deep corporate pockets that all but own the U.S. government.

I have seen the effect that Canabis has, first hand, on end stage patients with issues that affect their GI system.

However, the 'Marinol' pill is as effective as the more commonly abused street variety, however the onset time is a little longer. If someone has issues that require an immediate relief from symptoms, I would have no problem with the authorities giving someone legal approval to 'smoke' it provided they do that in their own home (ie not while outside the mall).

However, legalizing 'weed' for anyone who can enter a clinic and walk out with a script is a recipie for abuse.

prescriptions? the notion is laughable. the tax money we pay to punish people for that plant is ridiculous.

My politics are slightly right of center, but I will tell you that we need to legalize weed, unpopulate the prisons to make more room for much harder criminals, and put hundreds of thousands of weed dealers out of business.

I used to smoke, I don't anymore. (I've personally discovered that I like active memory, rather than short term memory loss)

Eventually the Dems in the US will condemn it like they did tabacco, so why not legalize it?

One caveat...if you get busted smoking while driving, the same DUI laws will apply.

The feds only authority on drugs is interstate traffic.. a slim thing to hang the whole "war on drugs" on.

I am for legalizing all drugs.. no tax save sales tax in the city/state it is being sold.

I don't do drugs and don't like to be around people who are on drugs but that is not the point. It is their life and so long as they are willing to pay the price (including jail for endangering me or loss of income from being fired) then.. vaya con dios..

If they get caught driving on any amount of drugs it should be the same as drunk.. employers should have the right to screen for drugs and be sued by non drug using employees if they don't.

The problem with drug users is that they not only want to do drugs but that they don't want to have any consequences.

To me... an adult should be able to buy an ounce of pure heroin at the grocery store for what it is worth... about $100.
