Hillary a lock?
« on: March 15, 2007, 07:37:18 PM »
I admit to thinking Hillary with the name recognition, her loyal husband at her side and a huge warchest of gold doubloons would win in 2008.

Now there's a long row to hoe to 1600 Pennsylvania in January of 2009 BUT

another Zogby poll had this little tidbit that surprised me as well.

Quote
The leading Democrat in the race can’t feel much solace – nearly half (46%) said they have an aversion to voting for New York Sen. Hillary Clinton. In a national Zogby telephone survey of likely Democratic primary voters in late February, she led the field of Democratic presidential candidates at 33%. It’s no surprise Clinton has been written off by a vast majority of self-described conservative (70%) and very conservative (79%) voters, but even among moderate voters, 42% said they would never cast a vote to put Clinton into the White House...

...Men and women were equally split in their decision never to vote for Gingrich – 53% of both genders feel this way. More than half of men (51%) and 42% of women said they would never vote for Clinton, the Democratic candidate who generated the second-strongest “anti-vote” among each gender. Gore trailed closely behind, with 45% of men and 41% of women who said they would never vote for the former presidential candidate.

Like I said, long way to go yet. Still... I'm thinking Clinton certainly HAD to be doing better than that.

Maybe I better not give up my day job to be a pollster!

Poll: Over Half Say "No" to Newt; 46% Would Never Vote For Hillary

Those are some interesting numbers for what they're worth. I'm surprised actually to see Hillary's numbers so low.

I'll join the ranks who will never vote for Hillary, Newt, John, Rudy, Mitt or Barrack.

I fear Obama charming his way into the whitehouse more than I fear Hillary buying her way in.

Obama is really....strange. I think he's also pretty far left which may sway alot of moderates.

Overall this is looking to be a repeat of the dismal choices the "big two" put up last time.

Actually, the more I research BSAddict's favorite, Ron Paul, the more I like him.

No one is perfect but he's starting to look like the rose amongst the thorns on both sides.

Has survived the Unreality that is HollyWeird.  Has survived Disneyland on the Potomac.  Carries himself well.  Has the "look" that is all important to the microwave-attention-span, image-is-everything, American public.

Only name mentioned I can't find many things to dislike about them.

Sold.

For the VOTE FOR FRED gang:  March 12 2008>
Fred Thompson, actor and former Republican senator from Tennessee, announced this weekend that he may run for U.S. president in 2008.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday" with host Chris Wallace, Thompson said he is giving serious thought to a presidential run, partially in response to the feeling among Republicans that there is no strong candidate currently in the field.

Thompson told Wallace that due to the nation's perilous times, he is "leaving the door open" whether or not to run.

Thompson also told Wallace of his political views, which include opposition to abortion. Thompson said he believes in tolerance of gays, but said he thinks gay marriage goes too far.

When asked about the war in Iraq, Thompson said he believes in Bush and thinks the United States should stick to long-term commitments in the Middle East.

Thompson also told Wallace he is against gun control, and that people should have the right to own a handgun and keep it in their home. When asked about immigration reform, Thompson said he is not completely for a comprehensive reform.

I like Fred, but I see a problem with some people confusing him with characters he has played in movies and who he is in real life.

"Hey wasnt he the guy in Die Hard 2 that was in charge of the Airport, wow he was really in charge, I like the way he thinks, he's got my vote"

Fred's got a chance because of face/Name recongition, he also is a good speaker and is probably good in front of people and on camera and has the experience to think on his feet.

I'd like to see him and Ron Paul together.
