Uploading skins for my map on 8 player
« on: March 16, 2007, 04:27:53 PM »
What type of file does it have to be and what do you have to do once you put it in that texsrc folder. Does the skin have to be one single file like you download off the website (.res), or is it a folder. I have a skin folder that has the rv8 wing and different parts. Will that work if I put it in that texsrc folder because I tried but it didn't show up on ah.

Thanks!

Did you follow the required naming convention, it's all in the skins forum.

Are you sure you are telling me the right thing? I have did everything step-by-step on that website. I think you are misunderstanding me. I need to upload skins for a map that I made for 8 player. What it is telling me on the website is to put it in the skin folder and create another folder like it with a "1" at the end and put the parts that you want to change it that. Well....if you do that you are not putting it on your map. You are setting up a custom skin for the main arena. I need an answer for this question because everyone it telling me a different thing and it is like I am getting the run around. :furious

Thanks!

Most of this is covered in the skins forum. This proceedure replaces the default skin in your terrain.

Before you begin, make sure your terrain will build without error.

Open AH2 in offline mode.
Select the RV8 on the clipboard in the hanger.
Right click the RV8.
On the dropdown menu, select Save Default Skin.
Exit the game.

Find C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\skins\rv8\RV81.bmp
Make a copy for editing
Open the copy with your favorite graphic program.
Make some random changes you’ll be able to see in the game.
Save the file, 8 bit (256 color), don’t change the size, in this case 512x512, 257KB.
Rename the file RV81.bmp if it isn’t already.
Move the RV81.bmp file into your texsrc folder.

Open the TE.
Open your terrain.
If you have problems after this, open another terrain, then reopen your terrain, you may also need to clear the cache file occasionally but I haven't had that problem.
Build your terrain and remember to move the *.res file to the AH II \ahiiterr folder.

Fly your terrain in the RV8.
Easy in-game again.
