Someone started a thread about the Spanish not taking part in WWII.Actually they did.the 250 Division was a group of volunteers that earned a well deserved reputation as fierce fighters on the eastern front.Pilots from Spain formed the Blue Sqaudrilla, and performed well. The Kriegsmarine also had some Spanish in their ranks.Beings they were all volunteers, one could say that Spain didn't take part in WWII,but when things started going downhill for the Axis,Franco ordered them all home, and most came home. That would show that they weren't actually taking orders from germany alone. One has to wonder what kind of difference it would have made if Franco had allowed Hitler to pass thru Spain, and the germans had captured Gibralter.I hope this thread last for a bit,as I'm a historian, and I don't care about nationalities, and regimes, just trying to answer a fellows'question.
