HTC: Why does this terrain all but eliminate GV's?
« on: July 06, 2001, 09:16:00 PM »
How come almost every field I check seem to be missing distant spawn points for the GV's?

Am I missing something here?  Earlier, I couldnt find one single field held by the country I am flying for with a spawn point off the field.

Sometimes a change of pace in the gameplay is welcome.  For me, one of the fun things about AH has been the chance to jump in a pnzr and go shell a enemy field.  This opportunity for change seems almost non-existant.  What gives?

HTC must have realised that there is no more need for GV in AH. Basically they have made this game a simple matter of kill the all the field ack in two seconds then vulch till the M3 or goon comes.  Thats why they dont bother with GV spawn points, they are useless. Pretty much same for bombers. WTG HTC!!  Maybe a too pissed off and cynical post, I donno, but it sure is true according to what my experience in MA has been so far, so HTC or whoever take that as you wish...

I did notice that there are a lot of fields on the shore line. A capture can be accomplished with a C47 or amphibious vehicles. Interesting battles may take place with shore battery fire, GV's, flacks & Ostties primarily in a defensive roll. This may be a different roll for the vehicles. I don't use them much but I think a Panzer firing at Ships,PT's and AV's coming ashore  might be fun. It will probably cut down on the vulch fests. Who knows.. I am sure HTC has figured out a reason for the change and it probably has to do with slowing down the sweeps though the countries with the numbers change. In any event, I have enjoyed it thus far  :)

I kinda think the idea is that certain maps will offer certain features not found in the others.  This one has canyons.. making GV's worthless against the plateau bases.

Maybe in return, they'll give us the beta map.  Then you'll see GVs... oh yes... you'll see them there.

Interesting .. AKDejaVu.. think you're onto it. I also heard that in the future when we get a reset in the same Tour it changes to a different terrain. That might give the scores a different balance by varrying the emphasis what is most effective. Still just guessing  :)
