My CH F-16 Fighterstick won't go down or right
« on: December 13, 2001, 07:48:00 PM »
Here's another problem to add to my list. Today as I was setting up everything I plugged in my joystick just to find out that when I try to calibrate it, it wont go down or right. It does this on both of my computers so I am almost convinced its a hardware problem. (Dont tell me to align the centering things below and to the right I made sure they were in the right spot)Could it be the electronic "thingies" that register the movent of the stick to the computer? I have no idea.

Any suggestions..?

Since you said the stick does this on two seperate computers, you can rule out a problem with the game port.  Most likely the problem is a burnt out potentiometer.  If you have the analog version of the CH stick, there should be a program called JCenter.  Run this program and follow the instructions to calibrate the stick.  If at any point when moving your stick around and you see "NONE" under Joystick A for either X or Y, then that means the potentiometer is dead.  Your best bet then is to contact CH and order some replacement potentiometers.  They are a breeze to put in and only takes about 5 minutes to swap the old ones out for the new ones.
