Problems starting AH
« on: October 10, 2000, 04:56:00 PM »
This is strange...

I got my soundcard working, finally, this morning. This afternoon I tested AH online and it went smooth like silk...no problem at all sound OK, etc...

But now I try to start it and a message comes:

"Initialization failed with -3
MainGR3D_failed -3"

The only thing that changed in the meantime was the video drivers (I played Soldier of fortune , and installed its openGL drivers). But I reinstalled old ones for no effect at all.

Please any hint?

Thanks

Try deleting your video.cfg file and restart AH? That might help.

Try reinstalling DX?

Maybe with the install of SoF and changing video drivers back and forth caused DX to freak out?

Grabbin at straws here bro!

Your DirectX drivers are messed up RAM.  Try reloading your video card drivers and DirectX 7a.

Sorry for post in Spanish, but easier to explain for me.

Hola Ram:

Saludos,

Glad it worked RAM.

I haven't used my Spanish for a little while, but it sounds like Pepino is having problems with his Sound Card.  I've ran into this before, just as he has.  Almost always the solution is to "reserve" IRQ 5 for a legacy device in the bios.  This allows the game port and soundblaster compatibility to function.
