We have the neocon liberal wing of the republican party in the White House today and similar but different liberal (RINO) republicans on the run to 08. We have the more liberal wing of the democrats pushing the agenda in Congress and on the run for 08.

I'm waiting for a solid moderate with libertarian leanings from either party or a new party. Chirp.... Chirp...

Paul looks interesting, but I'm not sold on exactly what his end game is for the country just yet.

I say we should have every single politician shot, and then start with a clean slate.

And no rich people in Congress or the White house anymore.

Yes, but how do we get the law into place?

Have you ever seen a poor politician?  These people make a lot of money doing what they do.  They will not voluntarily give it up.

Only one that comes to mind is Thomas Jefferson.  He did not start out that way, but he died virtually penniless.  Probably the last one too.

Aren't there ways to get signatures on a petition to get things like this on a ballot that politicians would never vote for or bring up themselves?

Not federally, but many states have initiatives that should enough be enacted state by state, the feds could be shamed. (fat chance)

The only other way is by constitutional convention.

I'm pretty sure that was an amendment to the Constitution... so Congress didn't decide on their own.

You are correct, it's the 22nd amendment to the constitution. Google was my friend. :D

I'm for an amendment that would require Senators and Representatives to remain in their home states and districts and telecommute their congressional duties.

This would allow me to get in my car and drive an hour or two and pound my fist on my senators desk, while some lobbyist would have to travel to 535 different cities to get his job done, rather than his present one stop shopping system.

>edit (It would also be good strategically, as somebody with a dirty bomb would not be able to take out the government)

Holden, I do have to say that that is one of your best ideas, and you've had many.

So, Term Limits, the abolition of a centralized congressional meeting location...

Anything else we want to bring up at our Constitutional Convention.

It is pathetically sad that most of you guys oppose congressional oversight of the executive branch.

It is even more pathetic that each party in the government is so fundamentally incapable of conducting such oversight if the executive is held by the same party as the majority in congress.

And make no mistake, the GOP in the last 6 years was the worst offender in that regard since before Theodore Roosevelt cleaned things up some.

As to the witch hunt accusation, don't make me laugh.  After what Clinton was put through and the fact that Pelosi explicitly shut down the pro-impeachment people...

Just imagine the outrage of the whacko-rightwing-talk radio circuit if Clinton's administration had outed an undercover CIA agent.  Good gods.
