Puter Problems with AH
« on: December 16, 2001, 05:32:00 AM »
PFN List Corrupt - Computer Hangs
Page Fault in Non Paged Area - Computer Hangs
CTD
Screen Freezes
Screen Freeze with speaker beep
Screem Freezes with high pitched speaker scream
Various other Win2K error msgs
Last time AH error, W2K dead, reformatted

Just reformatted my computer because of this, reinstalled W2K, latest drivers specifically designed for my hardware only.

Set AGP to 1x, Set palette snoop and turbo options to off.

Still getting this at least once every hour, sometimes within 5 seconds of spawning.

Anyone got any ideas as to what is causing this.  I checked error log and found many of these:

unable to read IO control information from NBT device.

These errors only occur when playing AH, do not occur with normal computer use or other games.

System:

Asus ZX something mainboard - Via Chipset
AMD 900mhz Athlon
Geforce Pro
520MB RAM
W2K Professional (no service pack)
MSSW joystick USB using inbuilt W2K driver
Quantum Fireball 20gig HD
Motorola SM56 Modem (dialup)

Go to SP 2 and try a different version of the detonator drivers.  (Version 12.41 is good for win2k.)  Just go to www.nvidia.com  and click drivers.  Now go to the driver archive and get the 12.41s.  (The newer versions are buggier and only minimally faster.)
