While I don't want to put down the C205 all 109 F,G and K are faster (F is just as fast under 20k), turns better both with and without flaps (even the K), climbs better (F only above 5k), and accelerates better.

I suspect the reason you think the C205 handles better at high speed is the same reason people say the same about the 109F compared to G's and the K: You can dive steeper in a slow plane without reaching critically high speeds. I "feel" the K compresses much faster than the G-2, but in reality they are almost identical. The K simply gets up to speed much quicker. And the C205 is no faster than a 109F.

I'd equate the 205 to a weak Spit IX.  It does almost all of the same things slightly worse but it has more ammo.

It doesn't like to take hits either so avoid getting shot at and it doesn't like to fly missing wing parts.  Losing part of a wing in a 205 probably means you're not getting home.

Keep it fast and look for opportunistic targets and it will do just fine.  It won't turn with the best turn fighters and it won't run with the best B'n'Z types but it does everyhing decent and that's what makes it fun to fly.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Gatt: Hiya! Are you back? Or just passing through? :P

Masher: I totally disagree. The fuel tanks in the C2 are very small. Burning the fuel off in those first, would be about the same as firing off 150 rounds of cannon. You don't save much. Besides that, I've never had any problems with roll rate unless I'm over 450mph and start to lock up.

Bald: It's VERY misleading to compare it to a spit9. Spit9 flies on rails. You point the nose, it goes. The C2 doesn't turn as well, doesn't stall as well, doesn't nose up as well, or do anything as well as the spit9. Totally different species of aircraft. IMO comparing those two is like comparing the P40E to the P-38. That is to say: no comparison.

I am serious, - the 205 surprized me a long time ago with it's quality at insane speeds. Hehe, this thread encouraged me to fly it yesterday in AHII, now I just need some 109 stick to come over to the DA/TA  for some high speed tests.
But shees a tad slower. Howe many HP? DB601 right?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

GATT!!!! Welcome back, bro! :)

I'm very happy to see you here, I hope you read the post I left in 4 Stormo's forum... I need some help in my lobbying campaign! ;)

EDIT: Btw, Karaya, fuel tanks in the C.202/205 are in the wing roots, really near the fuselage... maybe burning them before may give you some better roll performance, but I'm not sure it will be a large edge, it should be really tiny considering how close to the fuselage are the tanks.

It should have the same engine as the G-2/6. If you see me online I'd be happy to test fly a 109 with you. If the C205 handles better at high speed it will not surprise me ... it's not THAT hard to handle better than a 109 at high speed. ;)

Btw. I'm xVIKINGx online.

you're right, Viking, it's the DB605, the .202 has the DB601...

Btw, gents, if  you like the 205, you'll love the G.55... more wing surface, better handling and maneuverability, especially at high altitude... vote for it, you won't be disappointed!

I'm not going to start a pissin match with you Krusty.   Neither one of us need it.  I have found that it makes a difference.   Just good enough to make the plane a little more responsive.   <>
