Whats worse?  Getting "bomb vulched" on t/o, and immediately re-upping?

Or having all FH's taken down, and having to up the fighter of your choice from another base?

I did something to that effect the other day in my P-51. I was bounced by a 190 so I kicked off my two 500lbers and they must have hit some GVs because I got two kills almost at the same time. I didn't even know they were down there.

Next time take the B-17 with the 24 100lb bomb option. Salvo 24 / delay .75 and you can walk the whole load right down the runway no problem from end to end.

I fly at least one mission a month and do this just to see how many people I can get to whine about it on 200. My goal is to land a 10+ kill mission. One of these days I hope to get lucky and catch a big mission as it spawns and wipe out the entire force with one pass. I have to say the thought of doing that puts a big smile on my face. It's nice to catch people on the re-arm pad as well because you know they are trying to rack up a big kill sortie.

Don't think twice about it, except to plan ahead. :aok

Hey as a bomber guy, my own squad mates would call me a fun nazi for egging the GVs with my Lancs  ;)

If you got em whining on Ch 200....that's a bonus!

Tonight we had 3 B17s and separated 1k in a line. We had 12- 500lb bombs and dropped 6 on the first pass.  Then we turned and repeated. We hooked up with 999000 who had been whittlin away at anyone below us in his buffs. We all 4 rtb'd total of 14 kills between us. It was a blast.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe that the rwy is a legit bomber target. It has a "hardness" which is changeable in offline and I believe if straffed or bombed it counts toward your hp.

Of course I could be totally off on that.

As for this issue, it seems as if it is more popular than I thought. I am definitely "going fishing" again real soon.

Someone said in another thread that it has the same hardness as the tower, which I believe is set at 125,000 lbs or somethings.  Enough Lancs could theoretically drop one.  Could be interesting to see.

What effect would taking down the runway or leveling a tower have on a field?

Unknown.  Don't know if anyone's actually done it before.

Hmmmmm!  This might warrant further investigation.  If the Tower is down can you even up from that field, or even switch to that field?  Would you be forced out to the next base, like having the base captured while you are in the tower?

Much to ponder.

"Runway bombing is/was an accepted tactic. If anything, the game needs a base damage model that can make runway cratering into account. We should be able to drop enough bombs (and it really only takes a few well placed ones) to make a runway unusable (say for the same 15 minutes that the hangers are down). That wouldn't stop guys from upping fighters from hangers and taking off on the grass, but it should stop guys from upping loaded buffs on a runway that looks like the surface of the moon."
