Blocky chat buffer at High Res's
« on: March 26, 2007, 11:40:36 PM »
I just bought a 22inch monitor that runs at 1680x1050. I was able to edit the video config file to accept the res and it runs and looks great. The only problem im having is that in the chat buffer, i am getting very large, blocky text. I'm sure its that way on purpose so people would be able to read it at such high res's. I just wonder if theres any way to make it look better? Perhaps some sort of config file command?

Heres the chat buffer at full resolution:

I'm running a 7800gtx with a Gateway 2275

First of all, if you directly edited the video8.cfg file to plug in a resolution, then you need to go back and undo that.  There is an option in the "Video Settings" whih shows all resolutions your video card supports.

If you plug in a resolution which is not supported by the video card, but happens to work, you risk damage to the video card, and/or the monitor.

The game scales the radio text in an attempt to keep it approximately the same size, regardless of the resolution.  The higher the resolution, the higher the bit density of the text.  There is no config option for this.

The font given to the game comes from Windows.  If Windows cannot give the game exactly what it wants, then Windows approximates the selection.
