Well science aside, it always ruins fantasy ya know, besides, a bunch of 2 headed freaks may be fun.

  My choices would be:

1  My wife-  she keeps me stable
2  My bro-  he tilts me off center
3  A farmer-  Provider of crops and raises livestock
 4  A doctor- healer
 5  A botanist/pharmacist- medicines from plants
 6  A survivalist / hunter-  protector, provider
7  A carpenter-  Cutting timber transforming to structures
8  A physics guy-  basic brainiac
9  An artist-  various arts music, storytelling, paint
10   A vet (we'd bring horses and cattle)
11   A metalurgist- Finds and works metals
A plumber-  But I am one so thats not an extra body
12   A prositute-  Morale officer
13   A chef- He would also have to know how to slaughter
14   A teacher- to educate...would help the carpenter in the summer
15   A religious leader- to hold the unit together
16   A cloning expert- brings with him vast amounts of gene material :P
17   A good judge- hard to find but we'd surely need one sometime
18   A shipwright- We may need boats
19   A meteorologist- (sp)  need to know whats coming
20   A brewer- Can make spirits etc for us to party with.

All of the trades needed....all done by hot barely legal women.  The other male would be a best friend or family member because a random unknown male there would eventually be tribal warfare.  You know humans cant go long without fighting.

First thing I'd do is give up my spot...I'm diabetic, how many resources
would be wasted getting insulin for me.  The added downside is that I
could pass it down to any offspring...better someone healthier goes.

Of course we could have one heck of a going away party :D

I can do at least half of that.  If I can come along with you, can we fill out the rest of the positions with hot chicks?

I cannot get past the lack of DNA to make a viable gene pool.  It just isn't happening.  I keep seeing zombies!

There's indoor plumbing at the destination?

Seems most here are thinking with their johnson. If the survival of the species is the idea of this venture then here's how I'd do it...

Get 20 of the best in the medical, agriculture and engineering fields, make sure they are all women of breeding age.

Then get a supply of frozen sperm from the best and brightest in the male population.

That would give you the most diverse way of populating a world using a wide variety of the existing gene pool and would almost eleminate the degradiation of that gene pool by interbreeding. You would have to be careful to control the breeding to keep the gene pool viable.

You do not want experts in anything (except two doctors).  You want people who can learn to do anything and take the Library of Congress with you (leave the legal/lawyer/political crap behind).

Put the two doctors to work on solving the lack of a gene pool to make a viable species.  Have everyone else get to work on making babies and learning how to do what is need to be done.

Taking sperm samples with you is a crap shoot.  You dunt know what's in that stuff.

You would need some experts. One guy can't train everyone in everything. And as far as there being plumbing in the new world? There is plumbing everywhere. Theres more to it than making sure poop goes down the drain :)

PS Bring a special needs teacher along for Skuzzy's Roont off-spring :P

I would make sure no liberals were on board.   :)
