Designated L for "liason", it was also used as an artillery spotter and observation aircraft.  Top Speed: 93 MPH.  Armament: None.   It was the military version of the orginial Piper Cub.

Now I know it will never happen, but I think it would be fun to tool around in one at the cruising speed of 75 MPH spotting enemy GVs for friendly tanks.  They could make it available to fly from the Vehicle Bases.

Edit-----

I just thought of something.  Give it negative ENY so if you shot it down, you lose perk points.

Now if you put some smoke rockets on there, a la O-1 Bird Dog, well, now you've hooked me.  707 sounds like a foreward air controller already - let him loose in one of those things, and boy, look out!

Pass.

I've been known to play spotter for GV's..... but I like to shoot at them too.

IL-2, Hurri-D, Ki-61 (fast, cannon, 2 big bombs), Ki-67 (single plane, Puff the Magic Dragon time!), 110, Fw 190A8, Yak 9T, JU-87, Mossie, Boston, A-20, B-26, C-47 with Veh Sups,..... all kinds of planes good for that kind of mission.

An observation plane in this game would just be bait for cherry-pickers to make use of.

But those other planes can't do slow and low like a good liaison plane plus they're big targets.  I wouldn't be so sure that they would be easy kills for all the other planes.  I bet a good pilot could generate augers more often than he would get shot down.  I'd still rather see something with at least a gun on it like a Storch or Lysander.  Got to have smoke markers too.

Storch would be fantastic.

Alternatively you could add a "SOE troop" to the Lysander, perk it, and make it so the one troop only needed to get into town in order to capture :)

We already have locusts in the game.... they move in hordes.
