lock up issues after installing v1.05 patch 4

since installing v1.05 patch 4 last week I have been plagued with lock up issues, dropping to desktop, and a rare auto-computer restart.  I usually cannot play AH for more than 5 minutes without one of these events occuring.  They do not occur immediately when entering AH.

AMD Athlon 1000mhz Processor Slot A, Asus K7M motherboard, Asus V6600 Geforce 256 using the Nvidia Detonator 3 drivers version 3.61, Soundblaster Live sound card, DirectX 8.0, win98 Second Edition, Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold USB Joystick, connect to the internet using WinGate4.0 through a networked computer with a 56k modem

I have uninstalled AH, deleted the AH directory, reinstalled DX8, reinstalled video driver, reinstalled SBLive driver, reinstalled AH v1.04patch5 and then reinstalled all the updates to v1.05patch4.  RW has been disabled from starting up automatically.  Tried disabling the SBLive in device manager but AH won't run with it disabled.  

I have installed and used these programs since the last time I played v1.05patch3: Unreal Tournament, Baldur's Gate II, and ASUSTeK Asus DVD software.

I can be flying around the sky and have it lock up or I could be sitting in a tower at a base far from the front lines doing nothing to the computer when it freezes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I continue to work on this.  Not being able to play AH is driving me insane!

I have been having "screen freeze" or lock up also, and have found with Lephturn's help that it is probably related to the start-up programs and AOL when I am in game.
I have been knocking off the whole task bar on the lower right by the time on my PC and doing ctrl alt delete and knocking off swtray before going into AH.
I seem to get about 45 min of play before freeze occurs.
I don't know final answer yet, but maybe these clues will help you.
If you find an answer, please let me know and I will do same.

I have closed down all programs running in the background (except for explorer) using control-alt-delete but that didn't help either.

One more thing to check.  Use PC probe to find out what temperature your CPU is at after extended Ah playing.  Also make sure there are no voltage spikes on the 5V and Vcore.  It definately sounds heat related.

What is your Agp speed?  Via driver version?

(Did you just put in the GeForce?)

This issue seems to be resolved.

I swapped out one 128mb memory stick for another 128mb memory stick and everything seems to be working fine.

i was able to play Aces High for the past 2 days for 4 or more hours straight without any lock ups, dropping to desktop, or auto restarting the computer.
