I wondered if someone else would say The Quiet Man, its my favorite.

I also really like North To Alaska, the Rooster Cogburn roles, They Were Expendable, and She Wore A Yellow Ribbon. 3 Godfathers was pretty good as well.

Actually, I could go on and on. The man did very few I didn't like

ya I agree but the lady did say favorite. actually I liked even the "B" westerns going back to the late 30's with gabby hayes. when I was child I used to think how do these dudes get in fistfights and no one loses their hats? stuff like that always kept me interested in those hokey movies.

I have many that I really like. If I had to choose just one it would be McClintock. There was a great range of his acting in that one and a fantastic bunch of co actors.

The searches was good, but it was dark and not as much fun to watch as his more light hearted movies.

Hatari and They were expendable are my favs.

They Were Expendable was a great movie, but Duke was the 2nd lead. Robert Montgomery was the lead and uncredited director after John Ford got sick.

As far as his "fun" movies go, ya can't beat Donovan's Reef.
