the song was originally titled in the garden of venus but the lead singer Doug Ingle was so plastered he mumbled what you hear.  that goes back to July 1968.

on another note it's cool to see kids "discover" this great stuff.  my 16 year old does it all the time.

I always thought it was "In the Garden of Eden" but the beauty of it is we'll never make any sense of the mumbling so it could be anything.

You mean "In the garden of Eden", right? When drunk as a skunk, Doug Ingle recited the lyric, it was slurred into in-a-gadda-da-vida. It was written down phonetically by Ron Bushy. The next day when they reviewed the lyric, they decided to keep the phonetically spelling.

Iron Butterfly was the first band to have two albums in the top 10 at the same time.

Can anybody name the second band to do that?

LP = Long Play

There where 45s, 78s, and the 33 and 1/2s where the LPs.

That is in RPMs for you kids.
