MSFS Purchase
« on: April 03, 2007, 07:39:53 PM »
I went out and purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe edition last week, and found out two things that suck! First, my computer is a CD rom, and isn't capable of reading the DVD rom needed with MSFS X Deluxe Edition....Okay fine, I thought. So I go back to best buy to return it, and i'm told I can't because the game was opened and software laws........WTF!

Anyways, I bought the stupid thing for $69.99...All tags are still on the game...Game hasn't ever been played, and has all the original product crap it came with....

Instead of taking a total burn of $70 bucks, im trying to save some face here, and I'd be willing to sell it to anyone who wants it for $45, and I will include shipping.......

Please PM me if you want it.

You could get a DVD drive for $20, possibly even less. Comes useful nowadays.

WalMart, among other places. The local WalMart has DVD burners for under $60. Never mind Lite-On CD/DVD drives for under $30.

I did the same thing with a PC game compilation I wanted. I got into my truck and wondered how they fit six game onto three disks,,, they were DVDs.

At this point the only possible alternative was to go back in and get a DVD drive lol. Which is precisely what I did.

Or if you have a laptop or another system with dvd drive, just share that drive and install through network.

People!   People!   People!

If his system only has a CD ROM or CD/RW drive, and no DVD capabilities, what are the chances the rest of the system meets the minimum specs with which to run FSX? (and really, does FSX even RUN on min requirements unless everybloodything tuned wayyyy down?).

It's may be more than just adding a DVD drive.

If the computer was custom built by the user then there is a chance that he has gone through upgrades but has deemed it unnecessary to spend money on back then expensive DVD-drives.

I didn't have a DVD drive until the release of Silent Hunter III. However I had anticipated it and therefore didn't come as a surprise.

Same deal with my comp, I didn't put an expensive DVD drive in it when I built it, used the old CD-Rom drive. When I got Medieval Total War 2 as a gift, it was on dvd's, took the game back to best buy and exchanged it for store credit. I used the store credit to get a dvd/cd-rom/cd-burner drive ;)

I've loaded and minimally tried out MSFS X deluxe and lemme tell you, it's AWESOME!  It's also a super high strain on system resources like I've never seen before.

With two graphics cards and a gig of ram, the best I could get without stuttering was about 65-70% graphics potential.  Haven't even really flown in it yet or experimented with anything past in-game videos, as I haven't put my Joystick on that system yet.  If you can run it you'll like it (I assume you looked at the MIN requirements before you bought it), but if you can't it's worth putting away till you can.

Someday....Someday.

Contact Dadano on this board he has an online store.  His website is being upgraded right now I think, but it's in my sig as DnX Online.  I have bought several items from him and am pleased.

P.S.  Just checked the link and his site is not up again yet.  You'll need to PM him.

You want to lead men in combat and you can't even figure out how to install flight simulator?  You're going to get people killed.
