In my old part time army reserve unit, there were several 16 year olds who faked their age to get in. There was also one 14 year old who looked a lot older and was one of the best soldiers in the unit. At the time a lot of our equipment was WW2 British and we used Lee Enfield .303's so we were like a reenactment group at times.:lol Only we had live ammo!
