Baffling Vox Problem - Help Needed

Ok, I installed this game a few days ago and after awhile I realized I should be able to hear other people talking on vox. I can hear all the game sounds but  I can't hear other players talking. Also, as soon as my plane gets put on the runway it switches to TCP.

Now, I have Windows XP and Mcaffee VirusScan and Firewall. I have tried turning all the firewalls off, allowing full access for Aces High, putting in the specific IP addresses to allow and everything else I could think of.

A few people in the training area tried to help me out by having me look over some of my in game settings but after all of this the Vox still doesn't work and I'm starting to get frustrated. I just ran PingPlotter and I really don't know what the next step is so I'll post what I have here and hope that you guys can help me.

I should also add that my ISP is Earthlink and I have DSL.

Not too familiar with PingPlotter, yet seeing you had no packet loss it seems it's not the fault of your Internet Connection. Have you attempted changing your Router's firewall settings (You didn't mention changing that firewall setting in specifics), if so, are you sure your DSL modem doesn't have a firewall too?

If all of this has been done and configured, it is either your ISP blocking the ports or you have a client-based issue. You can call your ISP and ask those ports to be opened, and you can also try re-downloading the game and re-installing it. If that still doesn't work, it's most likely a computer or DirectX issue.

I contacted Earthlink and they said the DSL modem doesn't have a firewall and that not updates were being blocked. So it must not be the ISP.

I opened up Mcafee and disabled all the protection as well as the windows firewall.

Still it switches to TCP.

So how do I change the router's firewall setting? What IS the router?

What do i do if its a DirectX issue? How do I fix that?

Your router, if you have one, is located between your DSL modem and your computer.
It would allow you to hook up more computers to your LAN to access the internet through that single DSL connection.

Remember AH uses UDP so if you enable ports and such do it for both TCP and UDP.

That 3rd and 4th hop is killing your ping , i looked up the whois info for you and it looks like thats where your handed off to sprint . your 2nd hop from youngstown OH goes to Winter Park, Florida then back to pittsburgh PA and thats where you get that 90ms jump , i would call your isp and complain , looks like their routing is screwy . I looked up whois info from http://www.DNSstuff.com , maybe their info is bad , but with that high of a  ms spike there i would believe it.

To access your router's configuration panel and open those ports follow these steps:
1. Go to: start>Run
2. Type in: command
3. Execute the command by pressing "OK".
4. Now type in: ipconfig
5. Execute the command by pressing the enter/return key on your keyboard.
6. Copy the address next to "Default Gateway" (Ex. 100.156.5.21) into your Internet's Address bar. Excluding http://www. or .com
7. This is where people usually get stuck, the password. If you don't know it, chances are by default it's blank or Login id: administrator and the password: password
8. If you can't guess the password, contact the people who made the router. Ask how to bypass security and they will help you reset the login info.

Once inside your router's configuration panel. Attempt to forward ports 2000-6000 on UDP and TCP. Good luck!:aok
