A Recent Observation
« on: August 28, 2001, 10:57:00 AM »
I have logged almost 12 years of online WWII flight simmin stuff, and as I've mentioned before on this board, the best years were back in AWDOS due mainly to the community...it certainly wasn't the graphics :D

Recently, I've noticed that as this community has grown, so has my enjoyment.

With very few exceptions, I have enjoyed reading the vast and diverse base of opinions offered up over time, although I don't agree with alot of them, I still have enjoyed the enthusiasm of the community.

I've given thought to how we all are living and working and come together here to form this community and I find it remarkable that so many folks from so many places find common ground here to have fun and complain and fight and apologize.

It's all kinda cool :)

Thanks <S>

Yes, HTC has one heck of a sandbox for all of us to play.

Have to admit that I was a little concerned that the lower price would bring a Dweeb Circus, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the level of skill and enthusiasm of the new players.  The cheap bastiges.   :)

And what of the dweebiness of having an enemy CV (now captured) about 5 grids (yes, thats right, 5 grids) off the map so that the enemy has no chance of regaining lost CV's?  That's what the $14.95 price brought to us.  Other than that, good crowd.(Who knows, maybe a vet like Fester took it off the map...dunno, just have the pics of it offmap, thks to the individual who sent it to me)

I might add, HTC has it on their "To do" list thankfully.  Enjoy it while you can, dweebs   :D

People are people, don't care where you go, what you do. People are people, treat em with respect and dignity and chances are they'll do the same for you. If they don't, fine, thats their problem.

You know when you're out cruising, looking for a fight... and you see the dot... hi, lo, co... doesn't matter, you're in.

The opening moves tell it all; in 30 seconds you know whether or not this one is going to make you sweat...

..and it does...

You know you're up against one of the good ones; a fight where you can make no mistakes if you expect to survive, let alone get the kill.

The fight eventually unreels to it's ending. Somebody goes down in flames. Maybe others showed up and butted in, maybe it was a mano-a-mano slugfest till the end.

Doesn't matter. It was GREAT fun.

You know that either as the winner or loser you aren't going to whine OR crow about it on CH 1.. You know the OTHER guy isn't going to either.

It was just a great fight.

So while I don't get too teary-eyed very often, I'd just like to say it's you guys like that that keep me coming back for more.

It's always a pleasure.

The moral of this story is do not let your Port get captured.  I think if you capture a port, HTC should have the CV reset to new port owners.  This is not the best solution, but, the only way to keep that kind of crap from happening.  my .02

No, the moral of the story is: If you do this, it will be reported to the other country and its location will be revealed.

Thankfully, we have enough old timers that frown on this and that have networked together and revealed the gamers to each other. The only reason we didn't choose to take it back is the war was close to over, otherwise I'da had a group of B17's up there in a heartbeat.

I miss the place... ain't been around much lately.  :)

Logged on last night for the first time in a few weeks... flew for a few hours with the Bastartds (just killin time and knits till my date showed up) at some two-bit backwater bish airfield who's only claim to strat was it's previously untouched beer cache.. so we decided to hold it till the beer ran out aginst the nitrook hordes...

Got drunk as a skunk, busted my throttle, tangoed with Tshred in his 190 for awile, took bets on an augering p38, busted my throttle again, date showed, logged out, got stoned, got laid, then passed out a happy camper.

All in all, an excellent evening.

I luv this sim.  :D
