BSOD after 2 minutes every bootup
« on: April 08, 2007, 04:14:06 PM »
I get a blue screen of death each time I reboot my laptop after 2 minutes to 2-1/2 minutes.

It's tough to type the post in that amount of time so I'm including a hijack this logfile to see if anyone can help me.  I'd appreciate it!

BSOD after 2 minutes every bootup

Golfer,

I would nuke that 1903cr.exe, unless you know for sure that it really is a registry monitor.  Its location in C:\WINDOWS and its oddball name make it highly suspicious.  A google search for it turned up only one hit, and it was for a post from yesterday from someone having a similar problem.  It is likely a new piece of malware that hasn't hit the big AV vendors yet.

If you can get the system to stay up long enough, post the 1903cr.exe file to http://www.virustotal.com.  They'll run it through about 20 AV programs to check it for a virus.

I wound up only having the option to do the HP Restore from safe mode.  Reset everything to factory condition but kept my program files.  Now I just need to 'reinstall' everything and I'm set.

Thanks.  Whatever it was it was a diabolical fugger.

Once you get it where you want it or before. You might want to disable system restore. then re-enable it again.
Odds are if its some nasty. you might have had it for a while or at the very least since before your system did its last restore points in which case the file will still be on your system in one or more of the restore points
disabling it will remove all of your restore points completely.

Enabling it again and making a note of when will enable you have a known clean restore point to restore to.
