I see what you're getting at, Storch. But, I would digress that there is a huge difference in a real-time, face to face conversation in a streetfront cafe, and carrying on a conversation on the BBS.
In RL, you have but seconds to respond to a argument, to react in the way you wish the argument to go. If your temper's flaring, and you can't get it under control, shows a sign that you are losing said argument.
However, here, we can read posts' at leisure, drink a cup of coffee, Put away 2-3 beers, whatever, while we sit and think of our most clever response. We have time to get our emotions under control, and devote our energies to which strategy we wish to follow in our argument, or what tone we wish to set.
IMHO, I can't understand why posters come on the boards and just spill out the first thing that comes to mind...When you have time on your side, use it.
