Great friendships: Picture of our efforts today
« on: April 14, 2007, 08:09:48 PM »
My great neighbor whom I've had the pleasure of living next to for over 1.5 years is a Tamil Muslim by the name of Omendra. He is from India.

He and I built a "Green fence" today, with Thuja pyramidals which involved moving 30 yards of topsoil and 60 thujas. We got done in about 6 hours.

My family planted a tree today as well, a weeping willow.

Anyway, my cultural ignorance begs me to ask the question if there is a relation between him being Muslim and the planting of certain plants or if that was just extra info.  At any rate it looks good, congratulations.

Jeezus Christo Rip, you are one Ugly MF in a scary sort of way.

I'd say enlist USMC is they'll take you, because if you chucked your helmet you'd clear Ramadi in about 30 min. just from the hadjis seeing your face.

Or you could print that picture for the PsyOps guys:

Caption: "THIS IS MY LITTLE FRIEND OF ISLAM. I HUGGED HIM AND MADE HIM JELLY. STAY IN RAMADI IF YOU WANT TO BE MY LITTLE FRIEND OF ISLAM TOO."

Sincerely,

Wulfie

:)

I don't think anyone meant anything harmfully sarcastic, rogerdee. Just a few guys having fun. :)

I believe there are good and bad in any religion. Just happens that the extremist islamic fundamentals have center stage these days.  I work with 2 folks at Boeing whom are of the Muslim faith, and of course Omendra. They are quite wonderful people. :aok

did you offer to show him naked pictures of allah?

I find it better to not talk to the neighbors.   I had some philipine ones that were very nice but they kept trying to set me up with women looking to come to the states.

best to just wave as you go by..

I've seen first hand the affect the Tamil Tigers have had on Sri Lanka.  I'm sure he's a nice individual though.

We know our neighbors very well, talk to them often, help each other regularly and socialize regularly.  The backyard of our house opens up to six unfenced yards in a row, plus the yards behind.  If you were to watch us, you would think that we are all somewhat related.  Most of us have been neighbors for decades.  Two homes are on their second generation in the same families.  Even visiting grandchildren and nieces know everyone on the block.

Here’s a picture from our last backyard block party:
