Nazi's?
« on: April 16, 2007, 03:23:49 PM »
I thought we've gone over this with the Nazi's once before, back in the 40's I think....

Tulsa, Ok - Tulsa police officers could be busy dealing with confrontational crowds today as an Oklahoma Nazi group plans a protest in front of the Victory Christian Center.

The group is planning to protest the Victory Christian Center's 'Night to Honor Israel'. It's a tribute to the nation of Israel and the Jewish people of the World.

The purpose of the church presentation is to promote an understanding between Christians and Jews and to emphasize the things in common as believers in God.

According to the coordinator of the group that is protesting, the rally will take place Monday evening on the sidewalk in front of Victory Christian Center.

Participants will be wearing Swastika armbands, carrying signs and distributing literature.

Tulsa police plan to be on hand to make sure nothing confrontational erupts.

I am an Okie transplanted in AZ. I never knew this group existed. And what is it that they are protesting? The celebration of Jews? What is their alternative?

Kids, I tell ya, Kids.....
Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese. And there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin. - Tim Vine.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The first Ammendment is something that protects this group's right to protest and be heard.

While I do not agree with their philosophy nor do I think they are anything more than idiots, I do respect their right to free speech.  If we do not like their ideas, speech, and ideology, we can always choose to ignore them.

I applaude the Christian's group for reaching out to other religious communities to promote understanding of other people's beliefs.

Bodhi does have a point.

If the demonstration, march, protest, whatever it is, Is done in a legal manner, The authorities cannot intervene(though they can, and most assuredly will, mantain a presence.)

+1. It's protected as long as they keep it as speech and do nothing overt. They may be slimeballs and a waste of protoplasm but they have a right to speak in public.

Its not that I don't agree with their rights to protest, not at all.

I'm just curious what they are protesting?

I actually think that is something wrong with modern day christianity.  When did religion become such a ***** organization that they decided to concede their beliefs to placate someone else?

You should read the Old Testament of the Bible. You may rephrase that.

Oh and this from above after the Bible, "The purpose of the church presentation is to promote an understanding between Christians and Jews and to emphasize the things in common as believers in God"

:)

I've never read either, don't intend to.
