Airfield Supply Question

The C-47, LVT-2, and M-3 have the capability to drop supplies on a field to repair the field or shorten the downtime.  These object supplies will repair all resupplyable objects in a one mile radius from the point where the supplies land.  The supplies are selected as a loadout option in the hangar, and .25 perk points are awarded to the player who dropped the supplies for every object that's affected by the resupply.

This indicates that you can drop supplies anywhere on an airfield, but I was told that it had to be on the concrete pad.  Anyone know which is correct?

To my knowledge if your on land, including C-47, supplies must be dropped on concrete.  In the air with C-47, anywhere above field, alt. 600 or above.

Good question.

As for the concrete pad, any bit of the concrete would do and I must admit to always doing that and not just anywhere on the field. That is because I "land" immediately after

But think about the C47. when you drop from that you may not have your chute land on the concrete. So it seems logical that anywhere on the field will do. I will try it next time to see if it pays! - But stop your vehicle or aircraft on the concrete to avoid the "ditch" and reduced points from a proper landing.

So one way or another you usually end up on the concrete for full points!

Also, FYI

With this latest version out, some of the field and town access roads (or paths) are no longer concrete, they are dirt or gravel.  So if you land on one and tower out you'll get a ditch.  Stands to reason if you drop your supplies on one they'll not count.

Field supplies can be dropped anywhere on a base. They do resupply all appropriate items (ack, troops, ords, dar) within a 1 mile radius. This holds true for both C47 as well as M3 dropped supplies.

I can vouch for this having just tried it with an M3 cargo dropped on grassed area! - But I did move and park on the runway before ending the "flight"

A question that's always come up (within squad)..........What about dropping supplies in town?  Wasted or no?

BTW.....thanks for the input on dropping "Anywhere on base".  we've always gone out of our way to make sure the drop was on concrete.

Per the 'strategic targets' area in help file towns can not be resupplied.

Citys however can be resupplied with this note:
*  Each drop of convoy or train supplies on damaged city targets reduces the 3 hour downtime by 30 minutes.  Each drop of player supplies reduces the downtime by 15 minutes.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

This is quite confusing...

I never have seen a city coming back up any faster than the 3h downtime, if left alone. And I did bomb cities a lot.

Also the help section explains the supply chain (Cites -> Strat Targets -> Fields), but fails to mention the source of supplies for AI convois resupplying the City. Because there aren't any.

Just for clarification --

The "on concrete" issue IS important when landing. If you're off concrete, you get a "ditch". If you drop supplies, and then land, you'll get 25% more perk points for the same work.

Supplies do not have to land on concrete. They only have to land within a 1 mile radius
of the damaged objects. The only thing that needs to be on concrete is your resupply
vehicle or airplane when u land.

IIRC it's 1 mile from the tower.

(Edit: and Lusche, you can resupply strat like City, Ammo etc.  Great perks doing it.)

You noticed Dotcommi just resurrected a more than 1 year old thread? ;)

And no, cities can't be resupplied as I have recently learned. I have tested it myself in MA, only thing that you are able to resupply in a city are the ack guns.

Back on topic. I did a thorough test this evening to see why I did get perks, some others did too but others again did not. I used the  MW arena, for the strat system doesn't really work in offline or 8-player mode.
I drove a T34 to a city (boring 30 minutes), then killed some buildings and acks, switched sides and started running goons for another extraordinary exciting 90mins

(...)

What you actually can resupply are the ack guns. Once the ack guns were all back up, I stopped receiving any more perks.
To be sure, I continued my runs, only to see that after the calculated time the city buildings were still down and continued to stay down for a total of 3H's

Man..you guys are on top of things. Well ty for the correction on the distance. As long  as I've got your attention, how much time does each resup knock off the repair time on objects such as ammo bnkrs and radar?

Edit: Nevermind;  I found it in the "Help Menu Index".  I think its 30min off repair time per supply box for ammo, barracks, radar, and fuel. The normal down time for these objects is 2 hours, so in theory, it should take 4 supply runs to get them up and running. Is that right guys? If not let me know.
