For heaven's sake!  Don't format your hard drive, that would be tampering with evidence and impeding a federal investigation.  That'll get you sent to federal pound-me-in-the-*** prison, instead of a white collar country club prison.  The best you can do is plead ignorance and hope the judge has some sense of mercy.

But not likely.  Some junior prosecutor will probably use your case a stepping stone in his political career.  See you in 5 to 10.

ok i was gonna get in a areana but it was full and it was zpf's Area51. I hit ping and it showed the little chart AND HIS IP. So i went to google searched it and i found about where he lives. Is this legal. (I REALLY HOPE SO). and y does it show the ip in the first place.
 

Actually, If his IP is listed on an AH chart, and if you can use a standard search engine to find it, legal or not, It would be a very big loophole, that the judge would dismiss.

HTC's the one in trouble, for listing his IP(confidentiality and all that.)

Just think...Freeloaders, and not Corkyjr., have ruined AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me say that the finding of the IP address itself was not illegal..

It was the use of the search function to find out where he lives that has earned you a trip to the federal pokey for 24-60 mos....

That is not the worst of your troubles the fact that you came IN here and posted it for everyone to see has now added a conspiracy to commit interstate computer piracy (C.C.I.C.P.) charge to your problems..

This is an additional 60-120 mos IN Federal Prison...

Now IN order to keep yourself from going to prison I strongly suggest you contact your local office of the F.B.I. and tell them your sINs..

If you claim complete stupidity they will most likely believe you and let you off with just a warning, providing you contact them quicky before someone else here does and they come busting IN your front door...

If not I wish you the best with your marriage and we'll all talk to you again, IN about 5 -10 years..

IF your going to try and run or hide (your anus will thank you later)  , i'd take the 19.38 miles from HTC off  of your avatar . Don't make it that easy for them!!!!!  OR atleast change it to 1938 miles from HTC to throw them off the scent! Good Luck

Thats only if you use basic web tools. With a ping, or tracert its fairly simple to triangulate your position from the nearest routing hop.
