I was bitten by a Brown Recluse in the 80's on my calf and I still have a 3 inch hole in my leg, BUT, They dont have nuttin on the Hobo or Brazilian Wandering Spider. The main difference being that the Hobo spider is highly agressive, very nervous, extremely toxic, and extremely fast and agile!

At first I didn't know what it was.  I mean this thing was big, had hairy legs, was very flat yet wide and had huge eyes.  I was like sheeeet, swiped at it and ripped my shirt off and tossed it as it ran up my arm.  I didn't find the damn thing on the ground though... was hoping to kill it and show it to everyone, but the ****er got away.

Well according to that map, I'm safe up here in Chicago....not so much when down at school in Charleston, IL...

Now the day spiders grow wings and are able to fly...I'm calling it quits.

Had an employee call me one morning and said a spider bit him.  I asked where? he said on nuts!

An hour later, I get a call from the nurse telling how bad and swollen the bite looks and they need to send him to a specialist.  Anyway, he survived intact.

Sounds more like a Wolf spider then a recluse Stang. They look scary as hell but they are very docile. For a ****ing spider.

Take a look at the pictures in the links I posted above. If it was hairy, sure doesn't sound like a Brown Recluse. Also, if you are in Cinncinati you are out of the Brown Recluses normal range. Actual sightings of Brown Recluses outside their normal range are very rare.

Only thing worse than spiders are snakes imo. I saw a dead one once at a reservoir close to where I live, I stomped on it and kicked it *just to be sure* :D

Nice black widow. Them damn things are all over our apartment complex. I got a new glass top dining room table a while back and there were 2 under the base when it was deliverd. We now have a pest controll specialist spray our apartment on a bi-monthly basis since they have had a population explosion of black widows and scorpions in and arround our apartment complex. The thing that scares me most is that I was getting ready for work one morning and one crawled out of my dress shoe as I was picking it up to put it on.  :O

Ya those are commonplace here in Surprise AZ.  Widows are good to have arouns the house and yard because they stay put in their webs yet they keep the population of crickets and roaches down(i hate them both but they do very well here in desert climate).

I've had scorpions in the house on several occasions.  They perform the same function as the BW's but they are creepy looking and their wandering habits are cause for concern.  Once the kids came home, I had the house sprayed and still do on occasion.  If one of the kids gets stung, my wife will roast my 'nads.

Fiddlebacks and blackwidows are all over the place where I live....  *shudders*

I can handle any varmint...except a spider.  If you see me running, screaming, and flailing my arms...it's not a snake or a rhinoceros....it's a spider.

:lol

I feel the same way about scorpions... they creep me out.  I've had them crawl on me... seen them an inch or two from my face(was working under my car in the garage).....  hate 'em!
