Would have been interesting if it had seen use in WWII.  It's design was a paradigm shift from previous attack aircraft.

Interesting counterpoint to the Lightning's twin boom layout.  4,200 hp vs the Lightning's 3,000.  Similar size but 4,000 lbs heavier.  Longer range, faster, 4 20mm and 4 .50cal.  I wonder how turn performance compared?   Of course they were several years apart so they weren't competitors.

F7F Tigercat.

Wasn't so much an "attacker". Not in the sense that the TBM was. It was a heavy fighter bomber, akin to the F6F and F4U lines, able to kill enemy fighters and still carry over 2000lbs of bombs to the target.

The F7F did see use in WW2, just not combat. It was operationally deployed to marine air units well before the end of the war.

How so? Doesn't matter to me, I fly plenty of things. But setting up logistics and support for a radically new aircraft when the war is already nearing an end isn't going to be the most speedy of things, especially when your theater of ops is the Pacific!

It's just the way it was, we can't change that. :)
