connections gone down the drain
« on: January 19, 2000, 01:20:00 PM »
Starting yesterday evening EST my connections have gone right down the toilet.  I'll log on, pick the arena, and go to a field's tower.  Then I'll sit there for upwards of 5-7 minutes with noone in the roster (or 2-8 people in it) when there are 50+ ppl online according to the arena list.  Is sprint or someone doing upgrades again?  I've done pings and tracerts from a dos window and the average ping is 175 w/ no packet loss and I'm taking 11 hops to get to beta.hitechcreations.com.  Pinging the IP shown for the 'closed' arena has an average ping of 205 and 16 hops in the tracert.

I have had the same problems.  Ping times are not over 205ms.  The tracert looks clean.

I have had disco's, warps, yellow and red beacons.

Some disco's have occured under green beacon.

I haven't noticed any beacons other than green.  Granted I'm outside the aircraft 90% of the time when I'm flying a bomber (which _is_ 90% of the time =).  When I notice things not looking right I jump to the 'pit and check the beacon and I've never seen anything but green.  It's almost like the server/host forgot about me.......

Tonight I was online, and "lost host connection".
Since then I have been unable to stay in the arena for more than 30 secs.
Only 50 or so people are online at this time.

-I am using a cable modem.
PPP SETTINGS
-My MTU is set at 576
-TTL 128
-RWIN 32768
