Flashing screen with Geforce II GTS
« on: April 27, 2001, 06:27:00 PM »
I get flashes across the bottom of the screen in AH and B17 ONLY. Bizarre thing is, the flashes are definitely affected by throttle position: more throttle equals less flashing. I know at least 2 others with v. similar problems. Have tried all drivers from CD ref drivers up to 6.5 to no effect.
Any advice gratefully received and apols if this has been covered before.
Best wishes,
Tjay

You might try adjusting the mip mapping level to "high quality" rather than "best image."   Usually this setting is: right click desktop -> properties -> settings tab -> advanced button -> direct x -> adjust the mip mapping level down a couple notches.

I am not a comp expert but I had a similar prob on my comp (GeForce2 MX) it flashed in top of screen and it seemed to releat to stick movment.
I moved my stick from the game port to the USB port and then everything worked okay, this is maybe not your probl but it worked for me

Thanks everyone for the advice.
Unfortunately my control set up is full house CH gameport only, but I do have a simple usb stick - I'll connect this to test the fix.
Best wishes,

Could be related to interrupt sharing as well.

For instance, if your video card is sharing the interrupt with the USB port, joystick motion could cause screen flashing.
Or if you video card is sharing an interrupt with the gameport card, the same thing is liable to happen with a gameport setup.

But with any GF card, always set the Mipmapping lvel to "High quality", as it does default to "Best image", which causes other issues.  They default to that so the cards will run better in benchmarks.
