Ok, In game after playing for about 45 minutes my plane ,when I spawn out to fly, instead of sitting on the runway I seem to do flips and rolls and get stuck staring straight up and cant stop the screen from doing this "flip rolling"

Temperatures seem to be running high, 115 on mobo and almost 120 on core
and 135 during gaming on the GPU

Hi,

Ditto with the rolling, but I was in a tank and bumped into one of the houses next to the windmill. I was in one of the late war arenas. It also happens if a hill angle is too steep and the tank rolls over. Hey, I'm a newbie!

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 on XP Home and on DSL. I had to shut my PC down with the 8 second hold, on/off button to get out of it.

I figure it is just a bug with the new update.

Right-click on the Aces High II startup ICON, select the "Compatibility" tab, and set the game to run in "Windows 98/ME" compatilibilty mode.

Seems the dual-core AMD bug, which AMD released a patch to correct for Windows XP/2000, is back in Vista, but there is no patch to correct it yet.

I do have a dual core Intel system running Vista Ultimate at work and it seems to be fine with the game.

You might want to take a look at the "Vista: Performance Hints and Tips" sticky in this forum too. It is still a work in progress, but it might help.

I see you also have an NVidia video card. NVidia's Vista drivers are in pretty sad shape. You need to stay on top of the driver updates from NVidia.

I'll try the compatibility thing first and then try checking for drivers again, but my video card picks up on vista and seems to be running fine (said vista ready on compatibility)

I'll keep you updated so these problems can be sorted out quickly next time

Keep in mind the compatibility mode is a temporary "work around". I don't think using that mode utilizes both processor cores... but one core with a playable game is still better than two cores with an unplayable game.

Until they get all the bugs worked out of Vista and the drivers... you're stuck doing it that way.

Microsoft is not going to fix this bug. They consider it something unique to AMD. AMD has to fix it.

The compatibility mode setting forces the operating system to run the game on one core. It does hurt performance somewhat, but it does work around the AMD bug.

Need to keep an eye out on AMD's sitet for a patch.
