charon..  we are not ready to drop the "democrat" bit...  because they aren't.

The democrats may not be so in love with anti second sentiment as they were but... in the end.. no matter what they may feel... they vote along party lines and the party line is for more and more gun control and more and more trampling on the second.

Push comes to shove.... I want republicans voting on gun control issues..

No way to justify voting for the democrats at this point in time.

Lazs, I agree it's too early to tell.

However, I wouldn't be all that surprised if the gun ban plank was actually on it's way out long term (or if it wasn't for that matter). I doubt, even with the media bias and hi profile celeb and political antis that  gun control is really a core issue for most Democratic voters -- except those who are pro gun. We'll just have to see. Aside from Feinstein and McCarthy and closer to home Daley and Dick Durbin and Bloomberg in NY I don't think many others care and the downside is clear. What happens after 2008 should tell it.

I will likely be screwed in Illinois regardless, which is pushing to be the most liberal state in the Union with firearm bans at the forefront followed by a bunch of other unfunded, no budget social programs.

All of these mild statements for the current politicians can only help things regardless.

You are talking about two different things charon... you are talking about democrat voters (who hold their nose and vote for democrats knowing their parties stance on gun control) and the democrat politicians who vote consistently for more and more gun control.

It is the same as republicans who don't care much about abortion one way or the other.  or morality laws for that matter.

At this point...  If you are pro abortion tho... you are stupid to vote for a republican and if you are pro second amendment... you are stupid to vote for a democrat.

Pictures of them with shotguns at a skeet club notwhitstanding.
