Heh dinnae think that someone would actually use dual projectors for gaming. That's pretty handy at smoothing out the edges. :D

I use the trackIR, so by turning my head a bit the seam is out of the way.

Using projectors is a novel approach to that problem, however.

Triple head to go

I was also considering the triple head. I understand that your video card has to be complitable with the device. I have a x800 ATI card and I downloaded there test program. It didnt pass on there score.
what kind of video card do you have?

I disagree, using a 24" widescreen LCD providing 1920x1200 resolution I get a excellent picture. Sure the FOV is somewhat limited but I've not experienced that as a drawback at all. The resolution however is fantastic and it's much easier to spot planes and their relative position and movement which in turn makes shooting pure joy. The FOV issue is easily overcome by moving your head around more.

Have seen the TripleHead2Go before and know there are games supporting it, however it does not support widescreen resolutions therefore I'm not buying. The day it supports 3 1920x1200 monitors I'll be very interested.

Headtracking and 3D, AH is awesome in 3D.

I'm truly jealous. I just bought an el-cheapo shutter glass set only to find out that the promise on nvidia website was false, 3D drivers are supported only in 7900 series and earlier, not on my 8800.

Major bummer. I was really anxious to see how games work in 3d.

Does the VR glasses eat up a lot of cpu time? I might just have to get a pair.

I never said it technically isn't possible or isn't stunning to behold.  But the fact remains you are seriously penalized when playing in widescreen mode with the vertical FOV clipped.  If you don't have a TrackIR then there's pretty good size gaps between looking forward and looking up-forward and up.  Even if you have TrackIR its a serious impediment for situational awareness.  That's unacceptable for me.

No more CPU than normal. The Z800s went up phenomenally in price, but theres a new type from icuiti called the VR920's that look promising and are only US$399.  ( http://www.icuiti.com )

I understand the 3D stereo drivers for the 8800 are not far off.

Well, that's exactly what I do not agree with. There is no penalty in situational awareness unless you let it be. I've also checked for gaps in view coverage and found none.

Hmmm... I am happy for you that you like the widescreen rez but I run AH on my 58" 1920x1080p display @ 1280x1024 for the reasons Sancho gives.  I loved the high rez quality but can't live with the hit in gameplay.  I have been playing AH on a large widescreen for 3.5 years.  It would prolly be ok with Track IR. I guess it is a personal preference.;)
