I think there should be an option that when your window is cracked in your fighter, you could hit it out. The downside to this would be no crosshairs.

Um...the vast majority of fighters in AH can break 350mph in level flight.  All of them can break it with a short dive.  Even the A6M5b can break 350mph in level flight, and it is on the slow end of fighters in AH.

Some of the piston fighters in AH break 450mph.

The fastest fighter in WWI was the Spad XIII (IIRC) and it topped out at 135mph.  That is stall speed for a lot of WWII fighters.

And that is ignoring the fact that the glass you want to "punch out" is bullet proof plating that is bolted into the canopy frame in all cases other than the A6M2.

That plexiglass is alot tougher than you think..even the non-bulletproof
stuff.  In the Phantom, they had a special tool to shatter the canopy for
emergencies.

The only thing shattering if you hit the canopy with your fist would be
your fist :D .   Oh yeah, the crosshairs are projected on a gunsight, not the
canopy...so I guess you'd have to break that too :aok
