Lost My Wingman and a Very Good Friend
« on: April 29, 2007, 01:43:05 PM »
:(
I'm sorry to report that "Slot" a long time Aces High II member and former Warbirds member passed away Thursday suddenly.

Slot and I had recently formed the "+Mustang Mafia+" and were having a lot of fun flying with Warlock, Getmo, Cygnus, Aveng, and all the others in our squad.

He was just 50yrs old. Needless to say we're all in shock here.
As the C.O of the "Mustang Mafia" and as my wingman, he would say: "Fearless...you lead and I'll clean up anything you leave behind" ;-) He saved my butt on every flight.

In real life, Pat (His real name) was a rated instructor pilot and worked for the Orange County Sheriff's Dept. in the communications section.
He worked on the communications equipment for the aviation assets (Helicopters and Fixed Wing).

He was also the Vice President of the Orange County Council of the Navy League of the United states as well as the Director of Marine Corps affairs for VMFAT-101 (the west coast F-18 RAG).

Pat and I first met at a flight simulation center called "Fightertown" in Lake Forest, Ca. back in 1993. Together with "Bagger", "Tack", "Sixgun", and others, he was always very involved in making our flights there as realistic as possible.

Pat was the person that got me involved in Warbirds at the time when it was in it's infancy. He was flying with "Hawk","Bagger", "Tack", and a few others in the 475th fighter squadron.

Shortly after I joined we decided we wanted to rename our squad.
So we had a BBQ and aprox. 10 of us got together.
Everyone suggested names...but none of them sounded like the right one.
Pat then mentioned to me "How about the Knights Who say Ni! from Monty Python? When we get a kill we can type "Ni!" in the buffer!"

Well, of course he suggested it and the rest is history. Ni!

In his Honor, I've changed our squad name from "+The Mustang Mafia+" to "+ SLOT+" until his burial on Monday, May 7th.

Pat leaves behind a Wife and 2 Sons, ages 16 and 12.

Slot my brother, Fair Wind and Clear Sky's!!!!

.  Never like to hear news like this.  Fear- I hope you and your squad can take comfort in knowing that right now he is buzzing around the skies of heaven in any damn warbird he wants

I'm sorry to hear that.  He sounded like a wonderful person.  Please send my condolences to his family and friends.
He's a lover, not a fighter... but he's also a fighter, so don't get any ideas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRaTekm9Ak8  http://one_foggy.tripod.com/sounds/afu_jokeson.wav
