Permanent fog/haze/cloudy
« on: April 29, 2007, 07:46:54 PM »
In talking to a few people in the LWO arena yesterday (TT map), I was able to corroborate that most people seem to notice the new AH environment as being very hazy/foggy/smoky.  I imagine that is how it would feel to fly around heavily poluted areas, or in a nice summer day in England :D , but it is not very enjoyable to have that type of environment constantly in the game as it is hard to see and I find myself squinting quite a bit.  Are others experiencing the same problem? If so, could it be how I have my graphic properties (video card, monitor, game settings) are configured? (although I doubt it, I've changed them around quite a bit to no avail).

Wish I could post a picture, but I have nowhere to upload it.

Regards,

Emu

Since the last patch, it looks really good to me.  Like a typical sunny day.

Would you be able to share your graphics configuration?  I use max detail/quality, 1.0 Gamma, Horizon is checked, Terrain optimization is checked, etc. etc.
I noticed that disabling Horizon seemed to help as it basically made the line between the earth and sky a straight horizontal line, with the sky component missing the fog/haze.

No problems here either. Looks great on my end. Maybe post your system specs?

Some hours of the AH day are better than others, but overall, there is a haze.  I agree with uKnoMe, its much more difficult to spot cons at a distance now, and going over the cloud cap makes it almost impossible to spot cons down below.  I do plenty of real life flying, and although there are some bad days, on sunny clear days, it is definitely better than AH.  The interesting thing is the haze wasnt there BTP (before the patches).  Should this be something we should expect as a constant?

Not a huge deal, but it would be nicer to have more clarity (pun intended)

It's very hazy. I think Los Angeles has better air.

Very hazy on my end as well. As several others have stated, you can't see the dots (cons) nearly as far as before. So far I'm trying it off line. Does that make a difference?

I have the same problem as Emu.

It's like bushfire season in the MAs.

It doesn't worry me that much, I'm all for adverse weather conditions periodically, but I do have a permanent 'smoke' haze at all altitudes up to at least 16k (i'll have to go higher tonight and check if it clears)

I had no problems before the patch with smoke haze.

Note: This isn't a whine or a complaint, just an observation.
