Anyone else watch this miniseries?  I'm completely hooked :O

The shots are, with no exagerration, amazing.  I saw "Shallow Seas" first and couldn't believe it.  Absolutely breathtaking.

From about age 5 to 10 or so all I ever wanted to be was a zoologist working on these sorts of things.  This miniseries is making me wish I'd stuck with that :)

If you have onDemand, a few episodes are available.  If you like it, it's going on Amazon for $54 standard DVD to $67 for HD or Blu-ray.

I'm seriously considering buying it myself...

Yes indeed, the stuff they shoot is flat out amazing.  They were interviewing the crews tonight and they had to spend 2 months in the Gobi Desert to get shots of camels.  And they had to carry all their supplies for 2 months in a few trucks.
Who are you to wave your finger?

I think I'm going to go to Circuit City and try to get a demonstration...  Never have seen HD before and figure this would be a good one to get me hooked :aok

Discovery Channel is doing a great job lately with there programming.  Planet Earth, Deadlist Catch, Everest, Man vs Wild have all be great programs.

They are very intresting and some of the shots they get are amazing.

I hope they keep this going, and dont do any more American Choppers or anything like that again.

I don't miss American Chopper and whatever that HotRod show was.  I was puzzled as to why they were on the Discovery Channel.  The only thing I "discovered" was unfunctional families, businesses and heavy use of the BLEEP BLEEP sound effect  LOL

Discovery HD is really quite something.  My folks recently bought a Phillips 37" TV that does 1080i (which is what TimeWarner HD broadcasts in).  You really get to see what an HD TV can do when you find an HD show.

Oddly enough, the episode with the polar bear that was so desperate for food, it attacked the walruses and died really bothered me.  I commend them for filming the wild as it is.  Just the scene with that polar bear groaning in starvation and lying down to die....yeesh...that's how nature is.

Visually...a gorgeous show.  The whole global warming spin is at a minimal, which is a nice change.

That was a BBC series, awesome.

It follows on from another which you may like called Blue Planet.

Glad you liked it.  Comes with compliments from the British Public who pay their TV license fee :D

I can't watch that show. I know its nature, but nature is cruel and it sucks.

(In Sigourney Weaver type voice) " The young rabbits are born but their troubles have just begun. If found by by this wolf, they will all be killed."(Shows scenes of cuddlly bunnies) Suddenly the wolf appears and eats them all.

My wife said, "All they show is animals eating eachother in pretty settings!"
