I like how they try to make it sound sexy, 5.7 x28mm,  instead of .223 or .22
.223 must sound redneck...
$1800   sounds a bit overpriced to me...

A tad larger diameter (5.7mm vs 5.56mm) round, but much shorter (28mm vs 45mm).  Definitely expensive, but very, very sexy!  ;)

The Five-seveN handgun is also chambered in 5.7x28mm.

I remember when that came out I saw it in a magazine and I was, gimme gimme gimme. Then I found out civilians cant buy the ammo. Because 5.7mm is an armor piercer:(

and a .22 is 5.68mm,  so its still a 22, and a 22 is 25mm overall length, so its basically a fancy .22.
I guess the round looks to me like a shortened .223

There are some sexy guns out there with non-standard ammo sizes.  Neat to own, fun to fire, expensive to feed.

The airplane equivalent would be called a 'Hangar queen' (because it sits in the hangar looking pretty, rarely flies).  Is there a gun version of that analogy?

Safe Queen

Generally sits in the safe because it's an expensive matching collectable that would lose 1/2 its value if you broke and had to replace one of the original parts or had a stock crack, etc. Too valuable to shoot, which is why I "collect" or "accumulate" historic shooters :)

I used to love having one of the "auto" PS90 versions in each hand, with the appropriate dexterity modifier, in the RPG Fallout. Great game for those interested in the whole Mad Max post nuclear war survival genre.

Ammo price is really not that bad.  Comparable to the "premium" 223 Rem.

About .40/rnd at Midway on this 5.7x28 advert.

Compared to .80/rnd on this .223 Rem advert

With comparable bullets.

The grip looks like it would be a tad uncomfortable, but there's alot to be said for balance and accuracy having the barrol forward of the weight.

The newer Israli rifle (can't remember the name) seems to compensate for lack of range in most urban weapons yet is small enough to use in the environment.

Kinda reminds me of that.....kinda seems to be a growing trend in design as of late.

Not really, only personal preference as to that configuration.
