Just came back from a  few days working down there, found the place to be full of nothing but friendly people, beer was cheap too, 1.25 for 16oz draft. Food was great and again, prices were really good, Overall, Lubbock was a bit on the quiet side compared to California, but none the less, I'd go back again. Never had any traffic snarl ups, no sign of any trouble anywhere, Just full of decent nice people.:aok

I used to work there for a bit years ago.

It gets really hot in the summer.

My cousin went to Tech, and worked as a bartender at a local dive. I've been seriously drunk in Lubbock. I sorta remember going out to eat. We just ordered "beef". I was amused by that for some reason, but it was tastey.

Even though all of my names have TX in them somehow, I'm not even from Texas.

Anyhow, I gotta agree. There's something special about Texans that I haven't seen anywhere in the US (or the world, for that matter).  They're proud of who they are and where they're from far above any others.  If they're from Texas, you're gonna know it by-golly. (Look, even me: TXMom. I must have been assimilated after having married a Texan).

At the same time, Texans are both the meanest & the friendliest people you'll ever meet.

I was mazed how straight forward Texans are, Being in California, getting a straight answer from someone here is like looking for gold, They're all to busy booking their next appointment with their therapist or ordering soem non fat latte and busy having marital affairs.
In Lubbock, I met people just like me, straight talking, loved it, didn't really wanna come back here to be honest, life was simple there, courteus and respectful people. Your ok with them and they are ok with you- I like that, even bought a few local guys a couple of beers and got the same back in return, then I got one guy called tom on the  Scotch and the rest is a bit blurry, something about kicking a bucket while making Donkey noises i think........

Lubbock, the only place in the world you can be up to your knees in mud during a sandstorm.

I spent a lot of time there working construction. There is a bevy of bored college cuties and cheap beer. Not a bad combo.

Hawco, too bad you didn't stay for Bob Wills Day in Turkey, Tx. Huge party, Texas style.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Glad you didnt come to Austin because you wouldnt be saying that if you had. Nothing but a bunch of phreaks here..... I stick out like a sore thumb because I dont have my tongue, cheeks, nose, eyebrows, ears, butt, feet, hands, and nipples pierced. Its totally different in the rural towns that it in in the larger cities. However I was born, raised and still live in Tx and I still love it none the less. Come back anytime! Just make sure you bring phreak repellant if you come to Austin.

What are you talking about?

Austin born and raised. You must live in SoCo our campus area. Try Terrytown our south Austin..

When I was stationed in Abilene and the dust would blow through, people would say here comes Lubbock. I went there once on a deployment.
